• Helling Höfe Energy concept

    Efficiently supplied.
    Sustainably planned.
    Tangible comfort.

The HellingHöfe energy concept combines environmental awareness with modern living comfort. A combination of geothermal energy, heat pump technology, photovoltaics, and intensive green roofs ensures a sustainable, low-emission energy and environmental footprint – efficient, future-proof, and economical.

For residents, this means noticeably lower heating costs, a pleasantly temperate indoor climate – even in summer – and spacious green and recreational areas with a park-like feel directly on the roof above the underground parking garage and retail space.

    Heat

    Geothermal energy

    • A total of 45 geothermal boreholes, each reaching a depth of around 99 meters, tap into the Earth’s natural heat directly beneath the neighborhood.

    • What is geothermal energy?
Geothermal energy uses heat stored in the ground to supply buildings with heating, hot water, and even cooling. This energy is accessed via deep probes and transferred to the surface using heat pumps, offering a stable and sustainable solution for year-round comfort.

    Efficiency

Essential components of the energy concept

    • Dual-fuel system: combination of geothermal heat pumps (for base load) and gas condensing technology (for peak loads)
    • Decentralized electric heat pumps in the buildings + central heating technology in the basement
    • Photovoltaic systems on several roofs to support the energy supply
    • KfW Efficiency House 55 standard for the entire complex

The interplay of renewable energy sources, advanced building technology, and ecologically designed open spaces makes the HellingHöfe a truly sustainable complex – with real added value for the environment, the urban climate, and everyday life.

    Advantages

Convenience and cost advantages for tenants

    • Lower heating costs through the use of geothermal energy
    • Underfloor heating in all apartments with efficient temperature control
    • Cooling effect in summer: Excess heat from the apartments transferred through the floor surfaces and redirected into the geothermal field, keeping rooms pleasantly temperate during the warmer months – without any additional operating costs.

Green roofs – green thinking, smart design

Above the underground parking and retail areas, approximately 4,300 m² of intensively landscaped roo op spaces will be created – featuring trees, shrubs, owers, and a park-like design.

These green areas will not only improve the microclimate and enhance the quality of life, but also embody the sponge city principle: rainwater is retained, slowly evaporates, and in doing so relieves pressure on the urban drainage system – a smart and effective contribution to climate adaptation.

At the same time, these spaces will foster biodiversity by creating habitats for insects, birds, and plants – within an urban environment.
